Operating System

EPiX is built on the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and therefore will run on any system where a Java 1.4 virtual machine is available. Some tested configurations include:

Sun Solaris
Intel x86 GNU/Linux
Intel x86 Windows
Apple Mac OS X

Application Server

EPiX comes complete with a license for the Orion Server, an enterprise-grade J2EE application server for which EPiX is optimised.

Database Servers (RDBMS)

Microsoft SQL Server
Sybase
Oracle
PostgreSQL (free to download)
MySQL (free to download)
Hypersonic (recommended for testing only)

Any JDBC-compliant datasource should be usable with Orion/EPiX.
